What did the buffalo say to his son when he was leaving for college? Bison!
Even if your child was biting at the bit to get to college he or she might still experience some occasional twinges of homesickness. A package from home is a perfect way to show that out of sight is not out of mind!
Food seems to be the number one item people want to send and receive.. Even if full board is included in tuition, most cafeterias are not open 24 hours a day. Vending machines are expensive and transportation to stores and restaurants can be difficult. If you are feeling domestic, home baked cookies would be a sure fire hit. Other popular college foodstuffs to send are: Ramen noodles, macaroni and cheese, beef jerky, cereal bars, trail mix, nuts, brownie mix, and candy bars. Don’t forget tea, cocoa, coffee packs and powdered energy drinks.
A few non-consumable things would be greatly appreciated! Water bottles, coffee cups, microwavable storage containers, ear plugs, eye masks and games are all useful items for your student! How about a coin purse filled with change for the vending machines and laundromats?
Get your kid out exploring the college town (or city)! Send gift cards to local restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters, and coffee houses. I know everything is on line now but a subscription to the local newspaper could be fun.
