Ode To Electricity: Reflections Upon a Life without Electricity

Thanks to Hurricane Sandy

  • Silent master of suburban householdLightbulb
  • Electrical power stealthily grips the tight reins
  • Of modern life.  More valuable than gold!
  • Their currents charge our iPhones, run our trains,
  • Cook our food, heat our bodies, chill our beer
  • One week without our favorite ut’lity
  • Thawed ice, warm soda, freezer holds debris
  • Hoarding batteries, Xbox dead, no cheer
  • Dreams of warmth replaced with futility
  • Our ‘hood now descends in to anarchy

Apologies to all odists.
