When I was a kid summer camp was archery, swimming, horseback riding, lanyard 
making, campfires, tents abuzz with mosquitos, latrines w/ flies and mess halls with cockroaches. My children were lucky enough to go to a camp, Long Lake Camp for the Arts that offered dance, theatre, and music along with the traditional camp offerings. They lived in sturdy bunkhouses with flush toilets.
Now in addition to traditional camps,theater camps and sports camps, niche camps are growing rapidly and appeal to just about anyone’s interest. A quick look on the internet and I found these specialty camps:
Future Investors Camp- This camp offers trips to local financial districts (Wall Street!), courses in commodities trading, banking & more. Be sure to pack a 3-piece suit!
Clown Camp- Being a clown is so much more than a red rubber nose and pair of floppy shoes. Courses include balloon sculpting, make up application and physical comedy. Sign me up! And speaking of make up, check out the next camp.
Cosmetology Camp- The place to learn all about hairstyling, pedicures, facials and so much more (bikini waxing?) Really!
Irish Dance Camp- Well, I don’t know too much about Irish Dancing except it looks 
like more fun than swimming lessons.
Rowing Camp- Craftsbury Rowing Camp is for kids and adults. The Craftsbury Outdoor center also has running and cross-country skiing camps.
Circus Camp-Juggling, trapeze, puppetry, unicycling and mime classes! Sign me up!
Medieval Day Camp-“We bring the Middle Ages to you!” Since this is for young children, I doubt if they offer jousting but they do promote chivalry and honor. This could be fun.
