Farley Elliot and Scandal! Garner Top TIme Slot at Del Close. Finally.

Farley Elliot Today’s interview is with Farley Elliot who will be traveling from Los Angeles back to the state of his birth next week for the Del Close Marathon. This much anticipated  NYC event features comedians from all over the world and runs from Friday June 29th through Sunday July 1st.

MiaB: Where are you from originally?
FE: Adams Center, New York. Don’t bother looking it up, just know that it’s right by Canada, and there’s a lot of snow.

MiaB: What’s the name of your team?
FE: I perform on the house Harold team Scandal!

MiaB: How long have you been with the UCB?
FE: I’ve been taking classes and performing at the UCB Theater in Los Angeles since 2008.

MiaB: What got you into improv?
FE: I never use my brain as much anywhere else as when I’m on stage. I’ve always been attracted to comedy, interesting conversations, and knowing a little bit about a lot of things. That’s improv.

MiaB: Who is your favorite improv performer/team to watch?
FE: Joe Wengert is possibly the funniest, most relaxed improviser I’ve ever seen. He calmness and sincerity always make me laugh so much. As for teams, the Chicago Improvised Shakespeare troupe is a recurring highlight of my trips to the Del Close Marathon. Shows simply do not get any smarter.

MiaB: What has been your favorite moment doing improv?
FE: Off stage, my favorite moment has to be getting called to be on a Harold team at the UCBTLA. It’s a moment I had worked more than three years for. On stage, I once lucked into playing with the veteran teacher team The Smokes at an indie improv show in Los Angeles, and I was able to make one solid move early on that got a laugh from the audience and the other performers. After that, it was all gravy.

MiaB: Have you ever performed at the Del Close Marathon before?
FE: Yes, I have performed at the Del Close Marathon before, but only in their wacky late-night slots. I’m excited for the opportunity to do some real scenework and bring the shows that I love to be a part of to New York City.

MiaB: What time is your slot?
FE: I am performing with my Harold team Scandal! at 9pm on Friday, June 29th, and with my indie Slacker team Squeeze at 4pm on Saturday, June 30th.

MiaB: Is there anything that you would like to say to the people out there in the internets?
FE: Dear internet, don’t be so mean all the time. Would it kill you to put on a happy face once in a while?

Great interview! Just came up with great marketing name for your biz: “mirthathon”. Not sure what that would be, but I think the name has potential.
