The Food Network and ABC are toe to toe in negotiations to merge two of the top TV reality shows, “Dancing with the Stars” and “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives“. In an effort to side step viewer boredom and chop production costs, these shows hope to dance into the sunset as one.
Talks first began when viewers began commenting on the Triple D (Diners Drive-ins and Dives) host, Guy Fieri’s expanding waistline. No Hawaiian shirt could hide the toll countless burgers were having in his health and natural good looks. Frank Furter, an executive producer at DWTS (Dancing with the Stars), suggested Guy be a contestant on the dancing show. Intrigued by tales of prior contestants Kelly Osborne and Kirsty Alley’s weight loss, Guy suggested to take it one step further and merge the 2 prime time powerhouse programs. “I’m certain I can drop major poundage and still drive the bus to flavor town. It would be off the hook!” said Fieri.
Several Dancing with the Star contestants have had dizziness, bruising and fainting spells due to all sizzle and no steak. Guy’s perennial food foraging would easily solve that problem.
Negotiations have reached a standstill over the name. Currently in the running, “Diners Drive Ins and Dance Halls”, “Dancing in Bars” and “Dancing with the Biggest Loser”. Any suggestions?
