Hollywood, CA A friend of a friend told Mirth in a Box that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and 
Sciences announced yesterday that the famous nude statuette previously known as “Oscar” was being renamed “Nathan”. A spokesperson for the academy released a statement saying, ” The name Oscar has fallen out of fashion lately. It has not even made the top 100 male baby name list in a decade.” The release explained further,”Extremely popular names like Jack, Matthew and Moonbeam were rejected as being to trendy.” The academy claimed that Nathan was settled on as striking a happy balance between fashionable and enduring. Many Hollywood insiders have speculated that a recent aggressive PR campaign by Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs might be behind the name change. Nathan’s bought up an undiscloclosed amount of ad time during the awards and is hosting several large after parties. Nathan’s biggest competitor is Oscar Mayer.
