Presidents’ Day Party Tips

Cindee Weiss is back to help Mirth in a Box out with a few ideas on how to celebrate Presidents Day.   Gee thanks, Cindee!

Presidents Day Party Tips

Celebrating President’s day usually means the day off from work or school, and finding a Presidential Sealgreat deal on a mattress. With the 2012 election a few months away, you only have one option: Party Like A President! Here are some great ideas to make this the most memorable President’s Day yet!

A George Washington-Abe Lincoln Throw down Costume party:

You supply the gray wigs, beards, and top hats. Guests supply the fun of awkward interaction in costume. Have a cherry tree chopping contest! Turn the Gettysburg Address into a hilarious Mad-Libs! For snacks and libations, nothing puts you in the Presidential mood better than Mutton “lolipops” and the popular Harvest Drink. Recipe follows:

Mix with five gallons of water, half a gallon of molasses, one quart of vinegar, and two ounces of powdered ginger. This will make not only a very pleasant beverage, but one highly invigorating and healthful.(For a little extra oomph-a splash of your favorite spirit will lighten up any mood.)

The Great Debate Party:

We all have friends who think they’re smarter than everyone else, so why not put them to the test! The hilarity (and tempers flaring) ensues as your most verbose friends engage in a battle of wits, tackling popular subjects such as taxes and race relations. Keep it classy by pouring a Sour Grapes Wine and pass a Government Cheese platter.

Chester A. Arthur Night

Celebrate obscurity! The 21st President of the United States is not known for much, so this is a great party idea for those who like keeping it low-key. Keep the mood festive with a signature cocktail called “I Have No Idea What’s In It” . Take those dusty, lingering bottles of liquor in your bar, and combine in a large pitcher. Set out ice, mixers, and let your guests play bartender. Provide tasty mystery treats! Vienna Sausages, Pringles, and a Cheez Whiz Dip will keep everyone guessing!

Good one, Cindy. But I’m not sure about that punch; it gave me indigestion.

    The Ted Kennedy Mixer

On a foggy night, invite all your friends to bring some of Ted Kennedy’s favorite companions: Jack Daniels, Johnny Walker, Tom Collins and the like. Everyone hop in a car and drive to the nearest bridge.

Love these ideas! Who thought of doing anything but sleeping late and running errands? Why not celebrate mirthfully?!
